| I have been an independent consultant and FileMaker developer since 1993. Previously I was a senior member of the Education Directorate in the now defunct Strathclyde Regional Council in Scotland. I have also been a teacher of English and early in my career I was a Book Editor with both Collins and MacMillan. My consultancy has included FileMaker development, quality assurance and education consultancy. As an educational consultant I have undertaken contracts in South Africa, Lesotho, Swaziland, Mozambique, Kenya, Uganda, Cyprus, Vanuatu, Trinidad & Tobago and Israel (for the Palestinian Authority). Some of these contracts were arranged directly; others through international agencies such as UNESCO. My wide experience of management, administration and professional consultancy both in the UK and across the world gives me a good insight into the underlying business requirements of customers' database requests. I do not see the database as an end in itself; it must reflect the needs of the organisation. The better these needs are understood, the more effective the database solution will be. I have developed FileMaker solutions for industrial companies, government agencies, schools, local authorities, architects, charitable organisations and other agencies. Solutions have included custom web publishing, using PHP, and desktop / network databases on both Mac and PC platforms. I speak French and Italian and am able to work in these languages.  |
